THINGS WE HAVE
We are building a pub using traditional construction crafts and crowd sourced labour. It is called The Pilcrow.
It is perfect. We can’t wait to reveal where this is, but first we have to navigate through the tricky planning stage. To give you a clue, it’s in Manchester.
We have worked on some drawings with a start up firm in Manchester called Northmill. They are excellent.
THINGS WE DON'T HAVE
Everything includes, but is by no means limited to, the following:
A site manager, a project photographer, a joiner, an electrician, a plumber, an upholsterer, a dry stone waller, a web designer, a stone mason, a digital partner, a brewery partner, a tiler, a blacksmith, a glazier, a ceramicist, a sign writer, a screen printer, a bell founder, 300 volunteers to help us build the thing.
On reflection, we don't really have that much "in the bag".
We don't even have planning permission, we are meeting the council next week.
WHY ON EARTH ARE WE TELLING THE WHOLE WORLD ABOUT THIS WHEN WE HAVE GOT SO LITTLE LOCKED DOWN?
Well, want to share the entire story of this build, warts and all, from the very beginning.
We hope that this project will eventually become a how to guide to build your own pub, a sort of Haynes manual for DIY masochists.
We also feel 100% sure that this will happen.
